Dr. Babatunde Fatai Ogunbayo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Technology, William V.S. Tubman University, Harper, Maryland, Liberia. He obtained his PhD in Construction Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2022. His academic qualifications further include a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State, Nigeria; a Master’s degree in Housing from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; a Higher National Diploma in Building Technology; and a National Diploma in Quantity Surveying from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Nigeria.
Dr. Ogunbayo has previously served as a Senior Lecturer at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, Nigeria; a Lecturer and Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, University of Johannesburg, South Africa; and a Senior Technologist in the Department of Building Technology, Covenant University, Otta, Nigeria. He has supervised students at various levels, including Honours, Master’s, and PhD candidates in construction-related disciplines, as well as MBA students undertaking Capstone Projects at Johannesburg Business School, South Africa.
As a multi-disciplinary researcher, his core academic and research interests include construction management, maintenance management and services, building technology, quantity surveying, housing and sustainable development, facilities management, construction waste minimisation, artificial intelligence applications in construction, early maintenance warning systems, postgraduate supervision and mentorship, as well as academic publishing and editorial practice. Currently, Dr. Ogunbayo serves as a Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Sustainability and Frontiers in the Built Environment. He has authored and co-authored over 125 scholarly publications in Scopus-indexed journals and international conference proceedings, with more than 1,100 citations. He is the lead author of the book A Maintenance Management Framework for Municipal Buildings in Developing Economies, published by Taylor & Francis, London.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Ogunbayo brings extensive practical experience, having worked with several civil and engineering construction firms in Nigeria in various professional roles, including consultant, builder, construction manager, and quantity surveyor. He is affiliated with numerous professional bodies, including the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS – Associate Member), the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP – Candidate Member), the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP – Member), the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB – Corporate Member), the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON – Full Member), the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS – Member), and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB – Member), United Kingdom.
